Abstract

Personalized database are required to handle numerical data collected from many sources, which are come from public and personal data stocks of many fields of science. In this study, we made a database called SPRING which consists of geochemical data of mineral springs in Hyogo Prefecture. In order to related consideration from many other fields, database SPRING is developed as the part of scientific database system GEODAS.
Main part of GEODAS is supported by the database management system INQ by NEC, but the other part of GEODAS, e.g. SPRING, is under the control of COOD (Conversationally organized database management system) by Tohoku University Computer Center, which is newly installed in view of the fact that COOD is more advantageous for quick entry and flexible handling of dispersed data in different formats. For the practical purposes, total GEODAS does not have any trouble to use the different DBMS.
In addition, the database SPRING is in practical use for drawing a geochemical map with hexa-diagram.
