Synopsis

The development of the Art Nouveau movement emerged in the late 19th century under the influence of the industrial revolution and industrialization. As a reaction to simplistic design, this movement was inspired by nature and created a new aesthetic with organic forms, elegant lines and detailed ornamentation. The stylization of forms taken from nature, the use of plant motifs and the creation of original designs through abstraction are the prominent features of Art Nouveau. Artists emphasized the diversity of nature and the creativity of natural forms to distinguish themselves from previous movements. The effects of Art Nouveau on the field of painting were seen especially in pattern and line techniques. Artists expressed organic growth and natural forms by working with fine, elegant and rhythmic lines. Influenced by Japanese printmaking, the artists created works full of fluid forms, curved lines and floral motifs. One of the effects of Art Nouveau in the field of painting is its combination with symbolism. Instead of copying nature, the artists depicted mystical and religious subjects and gave symbolic meanings to their works. In conclusion, the Art Nouveau movement created a new aesthetic inspired by the beauty of nature with the influence of industrialization and technological developments and contributed to the development of various techniques and themes in the field of painting.
