Abstract

This article analyzes the social field of music in Medellín, Colombia, through the music-city relationship as social interaction. Through qualitative documentary research it is possible to establish six milestones that configure the social transformations of the city from the arrival of the musical printing press, through the new sonorities that permeate the Medellin society with the Antioquia Railroad, to the contributions of rock and roll and the boom of tropical music. The demarcation of the object of study allows us to understand the social configuration of the city.
