At present, the consumption of thermal and acoustic insulating materials is increasing worldwide, therefore it is very important to look for possible ways how to produce these materials from secondary raw materials and thus save the primary material base. In the textile and automotive industry, a number of wastes are produced which contain very high purity PES fibers, often comparable with primary PES fibers. In general, most types of PES fibers used in industry have a very low thickness (between 10 and 20 microns), so these fibers are very suitable for the production of thermal and acoustic insulation materials for use in construction. The paper deals with the development and study of the properties of insulators based on secondary PES fibers and the possibility to influence their key properties by suitable free material structure and density. During experimental work it was found that it is possible to influence the resulting thermal conductivity of the insulator and its acoustic properties in such a positive way. It has also been found that reaction to fire can be influenced by these parameters without the need for added chemicals. Therefore, the resulting insulator is health and ecologically harmless, has a long-term service life and also exhibits very good utility properties when built into the structure. Most of the key features are fully comparable, and some are even better than standard mineral wool used massively in construction. The advantage of these insulators is the high availability of input fibers practically all over the world.
