Foam glass is one of the materials for which it is possible to use glass waste of lower quality, which cannot be used for the production of classic glass products. Foam glass aggregate is a very interesting raw material, which, although it does not reach the quality of conventional foamed glass, but has a number of very interesting properties, thanks to which it can be used for the production of composites with a very good ratio of thermal insulation, acoustic and mechanical properties. The paper describes the results of the research focused on the use of crushed aggregate fraction up to 4 mm based on foam glass for the production of thermal and acoustic insulating materials with both silicate and polymer matrix. The paper describes the design methodology of composites design with regard to achieving the highest open porosity and at the same time sufficient mechanical properties to be able to use the developed materials for the production of acoustic tiles, masonry units or noise barriers absorbing layers. The experiments were performed to determine the key physical (bulk density, porosity, water absorption) and mechanical properties (compressive and flexural strength), as well as thermal insulating properties (thermal conductivity coefficient) and finally acoustic properties (sound absorption coefficient). The results of the measurements were then evaluated and the properties of model constructions based on selected recipes of the developed materials were calculated (acoustic properties of noise barriers, thermal insulating properties of walls made of masonry blocks, etc.).
