Study presents the current state and assessment of prospective ways of college campuses development in the Russian Federation based on environmental reconstruction. There is identified the main complex of problematic aspects of sustainable architectural development of campus territories. The paper proposes a concept of integrated modernization of buildings and territories of Russian universities. The presented priority directions for the college campuses reconstruction is based on the green building system.
The research observes the modern tendencies of college campuses design and its possible implementation in the complex environmental reconstruction of the territories and buildings. The innovative principles of architectural planning and design of college campuses are founded on recent research findings that testify compliance to the international green standards and economic effectiveness. They include agile design, biophilic forms and objects, coworking open spaces, automatic engineering systems.
Expediency of reconstruction using the advanced architectural design approaches has confirmed a correlation between effectiveness of building operation and identified influence factors such as acoustic characteristics, lighting, air temperature, accessibility, biophilia, color and furniture, automatic utility systems, etc. Along with this increase in monetary and energy savings, green building has been proven to make the occupants more productive.
The proposed methods of integrated reconstruction of college campuses will allow to design a sustainable architectural space and achieve the environmental performance of university?s buildings and territories.
