LONG-TERM TRENDS IN RIVERS FLOW FROM NORTH-EASTERN PART OF ROMANIA

In order to properly manage water resources in a river basin, it is necessary to identify trends in the evolution of rivers flow. Long-term trends analysis for river flow in north eastern part of Romania is based on two different methods: non-parametric rank-based Mann?Kendall (MK) test and innovative trend analysis (ITA). These two methods were applied for 7 hydrometric stations located in river basins unaffected by hydro-technical works, with hydrological observations on the average flow for the period 1950-2017. Based on MK test more than half of the analyzed rivers recorded positive trends for all the time series (71.4%). For annual, summer and autumn series, the positive slopes prevail in more than 80% of the considered locations, while for winter and spring they were found in 70% and respectively 57.4% of the locations. The same trend is shown by the ITA method, for annual and spring seasons with the positive slopes that was observed for more than 70% hydrometric station analyzed. For winter and summer season the positive trends are less than 60% for all stations. The results obtained regarding the rivers flow trends in this region can be the basis of the water resources management plans at the regional and basin level.
