Mapping, assessment, protection and their introduction in thematic circuits are steps which, once completed, will turn the geomorphosites near Topli?a resort into benefits for tourism. Methodology consists in field research, inventorying and evaluating various geomorphosites, based on scientific and cultural values. Topli?a resort developed in the volcanic area of the Eastern Carpathians, at the entrance in Topli?a?Deda defile, underneath the volcanic calderas of the C?liman Mountains and the Northern Gurghiu Mountains; at its beginnings, the main tourism attraction was the thermal water in the area. Following the investments in the last decade, winter sports tourism brought an increasing number of tourists. For further growth, the development of several other types and forms of tourism should be considered, in order to extend the stay of tourists; among these, geotourism is one of the least costly to implement. Hiking tourism, the main form in which the tourists cross the boundaries of the resort, must include, near the sport activity and admiring the landscapes, knowing the nature too. Although the notions geodiversity and geotourism have penetrated the Romanian scientific research yet since their entry, they are not found also in the main vocabulary of the tourists and the nature diversity overlaps the biological diversity only. Geomorphology can contribute to diversification and knowledge, provided that the processes and phenomena are explained in an accessible manner and the resources are introduced in tourism circuits and itineraries. Since by its altitude and conformation the relief in the area does not look like the volcanic landscape, identifying some characteristic geomorphosites through which to explain volcanism and geological evolution is essential.
