Abstract

This paper outlines the process of designing, carrying out and analysising structured observations within an educational setting. A purpose was to develop and evaluate a research tool. In doing this, it is, however, hoped that the research, though limited, may also contribute to existing research findings in relation to the use and effects of differential praise. The discussion includes highlighted learning points and implications for future structured observations.
