The author tried to investigate the intoxicating influences of naphthol AS-BO and the protecting influences of DL-methionine, glucuronic 'acid and NK 143 (Photosensiting dye) upon the kidney of rabbits. The results obtained were as follows:
There were the increase of body weight after the application of naphthol AS-BO. The. combined application with glucuronic acid developed a eminent influences.
After the application of naphthol AS-BO, there were observed many nephrotic changes in kidney such as the atrophia and congestion of the glomerulus, the cloudy swelling, the vacuolar degeneration, the pyknosis, the epithel desquamation, the cylinder formation in the tubulus renalis and Henle's loop. Such changes were observed in the case of the combined application with DL-methionine, glucuronic acid and NK 143 too.
The deposit of iron by Perls's method were observed in the proximal convolution after the application in the all cases.
RNA in the tubulus ranalis and Henle's loop were decreased after the application.
Phosphatase in the tubulus renalis and Henle's loop were observed a few increase.
At the histochmical researches the influences of DL-methionine, glucuronic acid and NK 143 were not observed.
Then, the pathological action of naphthol AS-BO for the kidney of rabbits was a regressive degeneration, such as nephrose, was not a progressive degeneration.
