Normal MRI pelvis (rectal cancer protocol)

Presentation

Previous TAMIS. Known ovarian dermoid cyst.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Female

Normal appearance of the rectal mucosa with no focal mass identified. Mesorectal fat appears normal and no lymphadenopathy or soft tissue mass is identified. Anorectal junction is normal. Uncomplicated diverticular disease of sigmoid colon.

Patient has had prior hysterectomy. There is a fat containing right adnexal lesion measuring 36 mm and demonstrating mild peripheral enhancement. The appearance is most in keeping with an ovarian teratoma. Left ovary is small.

There is no pelvic lymphadenopathy or free fluid. Urinary bladder and urethra appear normal. No bony lesion is detected

IMPRESSION

  • No rectal lesion identified.
  • Incidental 36 mm fat containing right adnexal lesion likely a dermoid
