The patella is displaced laterally with a bone contusion of its medial aspect as well as the lateral femoral condyle. Ruptured medial patellar retinaculum with an abnormal intrisic high signal. Mild thickening of the medial collateral ligament with intrinsic area of high signal. Moderate joint effusion.
Case Discussion
The association of bone contusion of the patella, and the lateral femoral condyle, as well as the presence of a rupture of the medial reticulum, are most consistent of a transient lateral dislocation of the patella
