Presentation

Right facial weakness not sparing the forehead.

Enhancement in distal intracanalicular segment of right facial nerve, geniculate ganglion, extending anteriorly into the greater superficial petrosal nerve and posteriorly into the petrous segment of the facial nerve.

Case Discussion

In a patient with right facial paresis not sparing the forehead (i.e. no involvement of the occipitofrontalis muscle), making it a lower motor neuron type of weakness, findings are consistent with Bell palsy.
