Abstract: |
A Level 3 survey was carried out on the site of Bonnington Mill. The building complex was at one time part of a much larger industrial complex developing from an early 19th century tannery to a later 19th-20th century paper mill. All of the industrial buildings had undergone major internal refurbishment to suit the requirements of modern 20th and 21st century office and workshop use. The survey results confirmed the scale of modification but industrial features from the sites use for paper manufacture were evident including steel frames, cast-iron pillars and bearing boxes. The origional mill house was extant but had undergone many alterations. An architectural watching brief recorded 19th century period features during its demolition to make way for a new housing development. |
