Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
An analysis was undertaken of the composition of four samples of Roman lead from three pigs and a pipe held at the Grosvenor Museum in Chester. All four were found to have been desilverised. The results were compared with earlier analysis of two samples of the same period from Flintshire. It was concluded that with the current level of knowledge, chemical composition could not be used as a proof for the origin of Roman lead. Earlier analysis of three of the museum samples is also discussed, with a note on the absence of tin in any notable quantity. LD | |||
