The ion exchange reactions of alkali metal ions on synthetic zeolites were examined in non-aqueous organic solvents, liquid ammonia and dimethyl formamide, in comparison with those in aqueous solutions. A new type of inclusion complex which has been found in the ion-exchange in fused salts was observed in liquid ammonia and DMF. Various circumstances which give rise to the inclusion complex were clarified: dependences on the hole size of zeolites, size of the solvents, dipole moment of the solvents, etc. Some properties of the inclusion complex were examined by thermal analyses, IR spectrometry, NMR, etc.
