For the past twenty years, in our clinic acetabuloplasty and femoral osteotomy were the most common procedures for the treatment of osteoarthritis of the hip. But recently operation combined of the above two is being carried out most frequently. The cases treated by these three methods were followed up and some problems on indication and operative techniques were discussed in this paper.
It is concluded that for the cases having acetabular dysplasia and deformity of the femoral neck, the above combined operation is necessary. In the technical viewpoint, it is important to perform accurately designed osteotomy of the femur and not to make too solid bony shelf in order to avoid too strong pressure upon the femoral head.
