The non-Sanskrit form adhiṣṭhihāmi is found twice in verse 4 of the Tathāgatāyuṣpramāṇaparivarta （Chapter XV） of the Gilgit Saddharmapuṇḍarīkasūtra （SP） manuscript. The corresponding edition KN, 323. 13, and most of the Nepalese manuscripts （NMs）, read adhiṣṭhahāmi in pāda a but lack this word in pāda b. Among the NMs there are two with the same reading as the Gilgit manuscript （GMs）, and these were cited in Edgerton’s Buddhist Hybrid Sanskrit Dictionary （p. 13）. The Tibetan translation corresponding to adhiṣṭhihāmi―byin gyis brlab―appears twice, but the Chinese translations by Dharmarakṣa and Kumārajīva are much different. For this paper, I have cited and examined recent studies of manuscripts from various collections with script types dating from the 4th to the 7th centuries in order to look at the GMs synchronically rather than “correcting” to classical Sanskrit forms and readings based on NMs from the 11th century onwards. I also examine and explain the word forms and the corresponding translations of Tibetan and Chinese. Then, rereading the Gilgit SP Manuscript itself in Chapter XV, I present a translation of verse 4.
