Abstract:

Deformed Al-12.7Si-0.7Mg alloy was heat treated for different solution treatment. The effect of solution treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Al-12.7Si-0.7Mg alloy were investigated. The long Si particle is first fragmented, subsequently individual particles coarsen whilst becoming rounder with solution treatment in the present study. It was found that the size and aspect ratio of Si particles, have an effect on mechanical property of deformed Al-12.7Si-0.7Mg alloy. The mechanical properties of deformed Al-12.7Si-0.7Mg alloy in T4 condition are much higher than that of 6063 alloy in T4.
