Abstract
The Beheira Block was granted to Murphy Egypt Oil Company (Operator), and Ultramar Egypt Inc. in 1979 as part of the Alamein Concession. The study area covers some 1250 square miles (3250 km2, comprising almost the entire block. The area had previously been held by WEPCO (Phillips Petroleum et al.). In 1966 that company shot a comprehensive seismic survey, using a dynamite source and analogue recording, through the area on a NW-SE, NE-SW rectangular grid with a line spacing of about 3 miles (5 km). This data was analogue processed by Phillips. In 1978, the field data was converted at Murphy's request, to digital format by Phillips, and was then reprocessed digitally by Seiscom Delta in 1979.
