Abstract:

The sampling sites were set up in the mature plantations of Robinia pseudoacacia and Pinus tabulaeformis in Yichuan County, Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province, and three duplicate plots of 20 m x 20 m were set at each site. Three 2 m x 2 m shrub sample squares and three 1 m x 1 m herb samples squares were set diagonally in each plot. At the same time, three sets of 1 m x 1 m litter sample squares were randomly set in the sample plot. Sample collection was carried out in June 2013. Five specimens of standard wood were used to collect samples of various organs (leaves, branches, trunks, barks, roots). The leaves were taken from the mature leaves of the current year, and the roots were divided into thick roots (> 2 mm) and fine root (<2 mm) to collect. Undergrowth shrubs and herbs were harvested by full harvesting method, and shrubs were divided into shrub leaves and shrub branches to collect and herbs were divided into herb leaves and herb roots to collect. While collecting the litter, we drilled a core of 100 cm deep (5 layers: 0-10, 10-20, 20-30-50-50, 50-100 cm) in each sample plot. The shrubs, herbs, litter and soil in each plot are mixed into one sample and each sample was collected about 300 g and brought back to the laboratory for use. All plants and litter samples were oven-dried at 85℃ to a constant weight, ground using a ball mill and the soil samples were naturally air-dried then ground into a fine powder. All samples were sieved through a 0.25-mm mesh screen before chemical analysis. The C concentrations were determined using K2Cr2O7-H2SO4 wet oxidation method, N concentrations were measured using the Kjeldahl method using H2SO4 and HClO4 for digestion, and P concentrations were measured using the same digestion solution for N followed by molybdenum-antimony anti-mix reagent colorimetric analysis. The dataset includes, 1) Geo-location of sample sites; 2) C, N and P contents and their ratios in organs of Robinia pseudoacacia; 3) C, N and P contents and their ratios in organs of Pinus tabuliformis; 4) Soil C, N, P concentrations and their ratios within Robinia pseudoacacia; 5) Soil C, N, P concentrations and their ratios within Pinus tabuliformis. The dataset is archived at .xlsx、.shp and .kmz data formats, and in 8 data files with the data size of 38.2 KB (Compressed to two data files with data size of 29.3 KB). The analysis paper based on this dataset was published in Acta Ecologica Sinica, Vol. 38, No. 4, 2018.
