This report describes a case of large retroperitoneal neurinoma.
A 65-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of the an abdominal tumor. She had no other complaints. A 20×15cm nonpulsatile and hard mass was palped in the left middle abdomen. Close examinations revealed a solid and avascular tumor with cystic change in the retroperitoneal region. Excision of the retroperitoneal tumor through the left side of the descending colon under laparotomy. The excised tumor, measured 19×14×10cm and weighted ca 1.8kg. Pathology confirmed a benign neurinoma. Among retroperitoneal tumors benign neurinomas are not uncommon, but such a large tumor appears rare in a review of the literature.
