In a 71-year-old male complaining of right abdominal severe pain, a nonpulsatile mass was palpable at the same site a couple of days after the pain occurred. Abdominal ultrasonography and computed tomography suggested a retroperitoneal hematoma. A selective superior mesenteric arteriogram demonstrated a ruptured aneurysm of the right colic artery. The aneurysm was excised and the hematoma removed. Arteriosclerosis appeared to be the cause of the aneurysm and hypertension likely contributed to its rupture. The ruptured aneurysm of the right colic artery, apparently the 2nd documented in Japan, is reported together with a review of the literature.
