Relationship Between Some Performance Tests and Match Performance in Women Football Players

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between some performance tests and match performance of women football players. The study included 24 athletes competing in the women’s super league (age: 25.21±5.532 years; training age: 12.33±5.027 years; body weight: 59.89±5.736 kg; length: 168.58±3.450 cm) voluntarily participated in the research. Squat jump, countermovement jump, 10m acceleration, 30m sprint, Yoyo Intermittent Recovery Test, 30-15 Intermittent Fitness Test were applied to the athletes. The movement analysis of the athletes were recorded with Fitogether GPS during the match. Within the scope of the analysis, the total running distance, high intensity running distance and number, sprint distance and number, maximum sprint speed, average speed, acceleration and deceleration numbers were evaluated. The Pearson correlation analysis was used to determine the level of relationship between performance tests and match performance. As a result of the analysis, it was found that there was a moderate positive correlation between the Yoyo-1 running distance and Yoyo-1 finishing speed of the athletes and the total running distance in the match (r=485; r=.423), and a moderate positive correlation between the 30-15IFT running distance and number and the total running distance in the match (r=.431; r=.409). There was a moderate negative correlation between the number of HSR and 30 m sprint performance (r=-.431); a moderate positive correlation between average speed and 30 m sprint performance (r=-.419); and a moderate positive correlation between maximal sprint speed and CMJ and SJ (r=.448; r=.474) (p<0.05). As a result, it was determined that the performance tests included in the study were related to various performance parameters occurring during the match, but did not provide sufficient information for the evaluation of the entire match. In this respect, it is thought that it is a more accurate approach to evaluate the match performance through performance components obtained from comprehensive and multiple tests.
