Signal Coverage Optimization of Wireless Fidelity Using Mi WiFi Range Extender Pro

Abstract

Wifi is the most popular internet connection because it can be used to access the internet wirelessly. However, there is a problem caused by the wifi signal coverage. This problem also occurs in Kemiri Village, which has an internet network with a bandwidth of 50 mbps. Whereas around the park area the wifi signal is not covered, so when you are in that area the signal will be cut off. To overcome this problem, the researchers added a signal amplifier device, namely the Mi Wi-Fi Range Extender Pro which is useful for increasing the range of the wifi signal. The method used in this study begins with the stages of analysis, design, implementation, testing and maintenance. The results of the study show that optimizing signal coverage in Kemiri Village using Mi Wifi Range Extender Pro has been successfully carried out, previously proven that areas not covered by the main wifi signal, with the installation of a wifi extender device are now affordable and can access the internet network. However, when testing using a speed test, the bandwidth received is not the same, in the main wifi area it receives bandwidth for 28 mbps download and 6.6 mbps uploud, while in the park area it receives bandwidth for 6.8 mbps download and 4.0 mbps uploud. This is due to the struggle for bandwidth. Therefore, future plans need to do bandwidth management.
