Abstract

the writer Jalal Barjas, the novel that won the Booker Prize for the year 2020.  This novel stopped all readers because it was a novel written in a wonderful and enjoyable engineering way, reaching 366 pages, building a bridge between the novel and the reader, through which the writer Jalal Barjas was able to formulate the language, engineer events for us, and fly from reality up on the ground of the present moment.  To deal with this new novel that has not yet been studied in terms of the elements of the novel in (Dafir al-Warraq), so we began by recounting the summary of the story in this novel, to be followed by an idea about the novel and its elements, in preparation for the beginning of dismantling the elements of the novel in terms of the characters, their branches and their vicissitudes, paper figures, but in which life and the soul took place  In a book we read, the writer weaves the plot and its threads, which are represented by the inability of the characters in the face of the challenges of society for them, including the brokenness and marginalization they suffered in their lives, down to the space of time and place of this novel and what we see in it of techniques adopted by the writer to increase the reader’s pleasure and yearning for the course of narration of events and the use of the charming language in a spirit  Poetic and highly symbolic made each phrase we read a suspense to know the course of events.  So, polyphony is the possible template for a novel that touched on sensitive issues in the Arab world. It was written with a black tragedies that dealt with the problems and crises of society. The writer made us feel as if we were walking in an exhibition of photographs.  The end ends with the case of Ibrahim Al-Warraq to stand at the most important dangerous crossroads and search for the causes of the origin of all crises, especially since the writing of this novel came after the Corona epidemic.
