Abstract

Abstract – While the studies in the field of energy efficiency are increasing without slowing down, people's comfort expectations are also rising more each day. At the same time, the number of smart buildings are also increasing in parallel with the technological developments. Today, when we look at the studies about smart buildings, although energy efficiency seems to be the top priority in buildings, the comfort of the buildings is quite important for creating a comfortable and healthy living space for people. Therefore, in this study, it was aimed to maximize the indoor comfort by optimizing the comfort factor. Matlab/ Simulink program was used for the simulation of the designed system. A fuzzy logic controller was designed to control the system. With the designed fuzzy logic controller; temperature, AC, fan speed and ventilation were controlled and comfort index was determined. Ambient temperature, relative humidity, carbon dioxide amount and comfort factor were tried to be adjusted with the controls that was carried out. Then, to able to test the controller, an existing model of Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system was modified and added to the simulation.
