ANASTASIAN QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS AMONG THE SINAI NEW FINDS

With the publication of more information about the manuscripts discovered in 1975 at St Catherine's Monastery, Mount Sinai,1 and in particular of references to three manuscripts that seem to contain the text of the érotapokriseis2 of Anastasius of Sinai, it was important to check if these contained the text of the original collection, prior to the publication of a new critical edition of the latter3 Archbishop Damianos kindly gave me permission to consult the manuscripts, and during four days (24-27 April, 2001) I lodged at the Auberge near the Monastery and was able to work in the office next to the Library. The Librarian, Archimandrite Symeon, would supply me with both the manuscripts and, when necessary, the relevant volumes of Migne's Patrologia Graeca. I am most grateful to the Monastery authorities for having facilitated this investigation.
