Efforts to integrated elementary and junior high schools are being encouraged nationwide to eliminate the “junior high school first grade gap” and to prevent school closures in communities amidst declining birthrates. Integrated facilities are considered to allow for better mobility, facilitate interaction between pupils in different school levels, and enable collaboration between teachers. In this study, after organizing the history of the establishment of three schools and the contents of their respective facility development, we considered the situation regarding school management, facility usage, and response to educational system revisions and then clarified the effects and issues facing each facility type.
