This paper presents a simplified evaluation method for stress of pile during earthquakes of embedded foundation on pile group using a sway-rocking model for soil-structure system and an elastic beam model for pile-soil system. The proposed method can take into account effects of pile groups, backfill soil and stress distribution of pile groups. This method can be applied to the design of pile groups. The results are in accord with rigorous solutions and experimental results.
