In order to investigate splitting bond strength of high strength deformed bars , bond strength tests were performed on reinforced concrete beams in which many cut off tension bars were placed in single or two layers without directly confining transverse reinforcement. It was shown that spacing and development length of tensile beam bars had a remarkable effect on the splitting bond strength. It was also shown that the average bond strength of beam bars placed in two layers were equivalent to that of beam bars placed in single layer at the same spacing and with the same development length.
