Abstract

The concept of building autonomous energy regions is a new, innovative proposal to build self-sufficient regions in terms of energy in highly developed countries. The idea behind the formation of autonomous energy regions is to ensure energy security and the use of local resources for the construction of the energy mix.

Because of the role and importance of energy for the development of economies and societies, in order to ensure the competitiveness of the Polish economy, it becomes necessary to start working on the construction of innovative energy concepts. The aim of the article is to present the concept of the construction of autonomous energy regions and analyse of the possibility of forming such regions in Poland.
