Summary
The cardiac manifestations of autoimmune rheumatologic diseases are well-known and may affect every anatomical structure of the heart. They multiply the cardiovascular risk, so the traditional risk assessment may not be accurate. Furthermore, the cardiovascular effects of rheumatologic therapy must also not be forgotten. By the early recognition of cardiovascular involvement, a significant improvement in the prognosis can be achieved. More clinical practice guidelines regarding cardio-rheumatology have been published recently to aid that mission.
