Abstract

This article aims to stress the text-critical potential and value of more recent Greek text witnesses of Aristotle’s “περὶ ἑρμηνείας”. On the one hand, the argument is based on otherwise lost lemmata and commentaries that are fragmentarily transmitted in margine of the manuscript pages. On the other hand, it is based on lemmata of late antique and of byzantine commentaries to this work that are either not well known or not yet edited. It will also be demonstrated how groups of more recent manuscripts with independent text variants can be identified accordingly, although the transmission of this work is considered to be highly contaminated.
