Study on Energy-saving Strategies of Rural Housing in Shandong Province of China

Abstract

Most of the rural houses in Shandong Province are non-insulated buildings, which consume a lot of energy and reduce the indoor comfort. To improve the indoor thermal environment of rural houses in Shandong while reducing energy consumption, this paper redesigned different energy-saving strategies according to the insulation materials provided in the Technical Guidelines. Using DesignBuilder, the energy-saving strategies were simulated. The energy-saving strategies were optimized and adjusted by comparing and analyzing the heating and cooling energy consumption results. The ceiling and external wall strategy is still the best cost-effective solution for economic consideration. Which will be used as a basis for future research to find more suitable insulation strategies for existing rural buildings in northern China.
