Survey on the Conflict Resolution over Icheon’s Incineration Plant, 2008

The Korea Institute of Public Administration conducted this survey to collect research data on the effects of collaborative governance, conflict management based on public participation, on public conflict resolution. In this study the case analysis of the ‘Icheon Incineration Plant Construction’, considered to be a successful model of conflict resolution, was undertaken and as a part of this analysis in-depth interviews and surveys were conducted among the citizens of Icheon and various involved parties.
This data was collected from surveying Icheon’s public officials, members of resident communities, and the general public. The data includes contents on evaluation of the outcomes of collaborative governance, awareness of the cause of conflict over construction of incineration plant, reason for the participation of residents’ communities, negotiation competency assessment of residents’ group, evaluation of Icheon’s competence in conflict management, perception of incineration plant, and the relationship between negotiating parties.
