Abstract

Green practices have become increasingly prevalent in the manufacturing sector, aiming to mitigate adverse environmental impacts. The adoption of green principles in industries is shaped by a multitude of factors. The chemical industry, in particular, encounters noteworthy challenges when striving to implement green practices. This study delves into the concept of green retrofitting within the chemical industry, utilizing an assessment framework outlined in Ministry of Public Works and Housing Regulation No. 21 of 2021. The research was conducted within a chemical facility situated in Cilegon, Banten, Indonesia. Employing a combination of Blockchain-Building Information Modeling (BIM), the study assesses the cost-effectiveness of green retrofitting. Furthermore, Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) is employed as a tool to process questionnaire data and identify influential factors. The findings reveal that the integration of Blockchain-BIM yields cost reductions of 4.42% for the low-level, 4.45% for the medium-level, and 4.40% for the high-level retrofitting categories. This underscores the significant impact of Blockchain-BIM in enhancing cost efficiency throughout the retrofitting process.
