The objective of this project is to develop a propane-fueled direct injection (DI) engine and emissions control system based on a current production General Motors 4.3 L spark-ignited, DI V6 engine. The team will integrate this engine and aftertreatment system into a package delivery vehicle, and demonstrate a 20% greenhouse gas (GHG) improvement over the baseline gasoline 6.0 L engine version of the vehicle while meeting U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Phase 2 medium-duty/heavy-duty and GHG emission regulations. Engine dynamometer, chassis dynamometer, and in-use fleet test data will be incorporated into the required Autonomie simulations.
