Abstract:
Math for You (Math4U) is educational web portal focused mainly on secondary school mathematics. The portal which has been developed since 2016 offers attractive and complex training materials for students and tools for teachers to prepare tests and exams. The portal is divided into three main sections - Math for Student (Math4S), Math for Teacher (Math4T) and Math for Class (Math4C).

Thanks to Math4T a teacher can prepare an interactive test or a tailor-made writing exam by choosing any questions he or she likes from the database of 4,000 questions and then set the options to choose the desired form in which the test or exam is generated. The interactive PDF test can be used for practicing with the whole class (using an interactive whiteboard or projector) or as a homework.

In the section Math4S students find unique educational software for practicing all areas of secondary school mathematics. The software generates an interactive HTML test according to student preferences (topic, subtopic, level, number of questions). The student receives partial feedback (evaluation) after answering each question. The applications Math4S and Math4T work with the database of 4,000 questions in each of the four languages (English, Czech, Slovak and Polish).

In the section Math4C, students and teachers will find interesting quizzes and educational games called “table-selection games” and “matching games”. Mainly, the aim of these games is to match the questions with the correct answers.

The main objective of this contribution is to show how the portal Math4U can be useful for learning and teaching Precalculus and Calculus at technical universities. We will focus mainly on materials on Functions, Limits, Derivatives, Integrals and Applications of Differentiation and Integration. Authors are going to present their experience with using interactive tests and educational games during teaching process. A teacher can use training games from library Math4C or using the application Math4T he/she can create various tailored tests according to his/her students, topic or subtopic. These games and quizzes can be used in seminars or labs to train new concepts or geometric interpretation of new terms, e.g. match graphs of functions with their derivatives, match solids with formulas that can be used to evaluate their volumes. Students working with such an interactive material during a lesson are much more motivated to practice at home with Math4S application, collaborate with each other and enjoy learning.

Educational web portal math4u.vsb.cz was created as a part of Math Exercises for You (2016-2019) project supported by Erasmus+ programme. The portal and its applications will be enhanced with the support of Math Exercises for You 2 (2019-2022) project also supported by Erasmus+ programme.
