Abstract:
The environment of the city has an impact on the lives of the people who live in it and spend most of its life. This also includes assessing how the urban environment impacts on their lives. Quality of life in the city has many important components. A large part consists of standard of living, but also people's access to goods and services. Education is one of the services that residents use in the city where they live. Education of the population is one of the key indicators of the quality of life in the city. It can be characterized from an objective point of view by different statistical indicators, but also from a subjective point of view, as perceived by the inhabitants the school level and other educational facilities in the given territory. It is the opinion of the population that is essential to know how to raise the level of education. Therefore, the contribution focuses on the research of the quality of life in selected cities with regard to the subjective opinion of the population. The paper presents the results of research carried out in selected cities of the European Union. The results are compared and it is possible to see how inhabitants perceive differently the level of education and what their impact on the quality of life is.
