Abstract:
Information society (IS) is not possible without information and communication technologies and the use of these technologies should be a basic skill for every member of the IS. One of the fundamental issues is ensuring access of all citizens to new developments and technologies. EU at this base has created the concept of e-Inclusion, which is an effort to integrate all citizens in IS, so that nobody is left behind and to overcome exclusion of individuals and groups in society.

The concept of digital inclusion is about access, in terms of ensuring equal opportunities so that all members of society to benefit from the advantages that technology offers. Access to technology alone is not enough. There should be an emphasis on the practical part of inclusion. The ability of people to participate fully in the information society depends on many factors. Age is one of the factors for integration into IS. With increasing age they complain about adaptability to new things, so the penetration of older people in the IS is slower and they can find themselves on the edge of society. The problem of integration is as well as initial inequality in access to ICT. People who do not have access, they are at a disadvantage and may even be excluded from the IS.

In this article we would like to present the results of two case studies, which were conducted at the CTU in Prague, Department of Computer Science, in 2005 and 2016. A select group of seniors in 2016 where asked about the ICT skills and knowledge about them. The observed data were compared with data collected in the 2005, based on the same questionnaire form. Group of seniors surveyed were not identical, but have been selected on the same principle as the original. The research was designed to demonstrate the development of seniors ICT knowledge and level of inclusion in IS.
