When teaching challenges the student's inner self, it breaks its own boundaries. It is terribly difficult to grasp the students'situation, but there are handles nonetheless. Teaching is an effort to discover these handles. The path of student A, who had begun to stay away from school, was a demand for change on the part of my own self. By reviewing the circumstances that had driven her away from school, I would like to reexamine their significance. Through student A's conversations, notes,and letters from her mother, I would like to reconstruct the background that supports my interpretation of her.
