Biochar has been shown to improve soil fertility, and its properties depend on pyrolysis conditions. However, the effects of pyrolysis conditions such as temperature and atmospheric gases on the physical properties of biochar for agricultural use on water retention when biochar is applied to soil have not been fully investigated in previous studies. Therefore, this study aims to clarify the effects of production conditions on the pore structure and water retention properties of biochar for agricultural use.
