For ARCH process under developing, the residence time of coal particles in reactor is only several seconds, and in this short time, various chemical and physical changes occur, such as rapid heating of coal particles, devolatization, decomposition, condensation and deposition. To understand these changes is important in ARCH process research and it can provide valuable reference to reactor design and furthermore to achieve high production and economic efficiencies. This paper presents the basis data of hydrogasification obtained with a Batch-Type reactor in 1-80s and discusses the initial hydrogasification process through comparison with the results of rapid coal pyrosis.
