The Development of Coal Hydrogasification Technology to secure a stable supply of substituted natural gas (SNG) from coal at low cost has been performed from FY 1996 as apart of the Japanese governmental new energy program called the New Sunshine Project. The project consists of three research activities which includes the Elemental Research, Supporting Research and Research on Social adaptability.
