Foliar Epidermal Studies in Indian Jasminum

Abstract

The paper reports epidermal structures including their appendages in thirty three species of jasminum. Various types of stomata including the abnormalities have been reported. Trichomes which are the characteristic of this genus have been observed in all the investigated species. Guticular striations and other important feature are also discussed in detail. Giant stomata and domatia are recorded for the first time in this genus. Species of Jasminum can be identified on the basis of epidermal features.
