A new rhynchocinetid shrimp, Rhynchocinetes concolor sp. nov., is described and illustrated on the basis of 12 specimens from the Ryukyu Islands of southern Japan, Papua New Guinea and the northern Australian waters. It is characterized and readily distinguished from the close congeners by having the distinctive life-coloration, the unique arrangement of ventral rostral teeth and the combination of the morphological characters in the antennular peduncle, the antennal scale and the carpi and the dactyli of ambulatory pereiopods.
