As the result of plant sociological studies on the vegetation of Uwajima City, the followiug plant communities were dfstinguished., (1) In the evergreen broad-leaved forest zone (0〜500m) were recognized Shiia cuspidata community and Actinodaphne lancifolia community, and then Pinus Thunbergii-Quercus phylliraeoides community was found as an edaphic climax in this zone. (2) Abies firma community and Tsuga Sieboldii community were recognized in the Abies-Tsuga forest zone(500〜1100m). (3) In the deciduous broad-leaved forest zone(above 1100m)were developed Fagus crenata community as a climatic climax forest.
