Trachyandra mira, a new species of sect. Trachyandra (Asphodelaceae) from South Africa, is described and illustrate. Trachyandra mira resembles T. kamiesbergensis, but differs in its pale brown to creamy white (vs. bright red) roots, shorter pedicels 2–3.5 mm long (vs. to 10 mm long), broader bracts 2–3.5 × 3–4 mm (vs. 3–4 × 1–2 mm) and ellipsoid ovary ca. 2 × 1 mm (vs. globose, 1–1.5 mm across).
