The gametogenesis of the chiton, Acanthopleura japonica, was confirmed to start between April 10 and May 10 in 1985 in the sea around Shirahama. By simultaneous experimental rearing, gametogenesis was proved to take place under increased water temperature, and not solely under long-day condition.
